It is strongly suggested that you place your order at least one week before your pick up date so that TCI Logistics has the time to ensure the best service for your auto transport.
The main factor is the pickup location. If your vehicle is being picked up from a big metropolitan area, your vehicle will almost always be picked up on the exact date you need it picked up. We also have to keep in mind that sometimes delays might occur due to weather, traffic, and road conditions. If your vehicle is being picked up from a more rural area it might take 2-3 days for pick up.
There are a few factors that play into the delivery time. Once we have an assigned driver, he is able to provide us an exact delivery date which should not change unless there are delays that are caused by weather, break downs, and other things that the driver might encounter. Coast to coast it usually takes between 7-10 days. North to South it takes 5-7 days. Anything under 500 miles should take under 2-3 days after the vehicle has been picked up.
TCI Logistics promises that your vehicle will be picked up from your residence or business at no additional charge. However, most of the trucks are over 75ft long and if your neighborhood is too tight, or there are signs forbidding trucks to enter your neighborhood, the driver will kindly ask you to meet him right outside of your neighborhood.
Absolutely not, TCI Logistics makes sure that your vehicle is transported on the same truck that was picked up on. The only time your vehicle might be delivered by another truck is if the truck that had picked up your vehicle has broken down and the delivery will be very late, then TCI Logistics makes sure that your vehicle is delivered on time again by switching the truck to avoid the delays.
If you think that your pick up/ delivery address has streets that are too narrow or there are a lot of low trees that might cause a problem for the safety of the truck, driver, and other vehicles that are already on the trailer then please let the driver know ahead of time or TCI Logistics, so that we could arrange a pick up/ drop off nearby your address, at a convenient location, like a shopping center or major street crossing to pick up or deliver your vehicle.
You can arrange to have a family member, friend or a co-worker to ship or receive your vehicle. However, it is crucial that they are informed about the inspection that is performed on pick up by the driver. The person shipping the vehicle must sign the bill of lading that has all the dents and scratches marked on by the driver. If another person is receiving your vehicle, then they must be informed to do a thorough inspection on delivery and to compare the bill of lading from the pickup. If there are any new damages, the person receiving the car must note them on the same bill of lading on delivery by the receiving person.
There are multiple factors that calculate the cost: distance, size and operability of your vehicle, as well as your choice to use an open or enclosed carrier. There are also seasonal factors. For example if you would like to move your vehicle in the fall, down to Florida, the cost will rise because there is a tremendous amount traffic of snowbirds moving down to Florida for the winter.
We offer multiple methods for payment. The most popular way to pay among our customers is once your vehicle has been picked up, the client pays a deposit which is usually 10-20 percent of the total cost with a credit or debit card. The rest gets paid directly on delivery to the driver. You can also pay the whole cost with a credit/debit card once your vehicle has been picked up, that way you don’t have to worry about the payment on delivery. We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover. You can also pay via PayPal.
Drivers are not allowed to accept credit cards or person checks on delivery. If you have an outstanding balance that is due on delivery, please make sure that you have a payment that is ready either in cash, cashier’s check, or money order.
Open auto transport is the most common method of transporting a vehicle. Nearly 90% of the vehicles are transported in an open transport, mainly because clients are aware that there is $250k insurance on the open transport, there is no need to worry that something might happen to your vehicle, it is covered at all times. Open transport usually costs $300-$400 less than enclosed transportation. Most clients that are using enclosed transport, have exotic vehicles or they just want to make sure that the vehicle is received in the exact same way that it was received. The insurance coverage for enclosed transport is higher than for open transport. If you are transporting a very expensive vehicle, then enclosed auto transport is the suggested method. If you are not sure what is right for you, please feel free to give us a call on 312-224-8460 or send us an e-mail on sales@tciships.com.
Per federal law states that there should be under 100lbs in the trunk due to multiple reasons. Household items are prohibited by the DOT to be transported inside your vehicle. Personal belongings left in the vehicle are shipped strictly at the owner's risk. If the driver arrives at the pickup location and sees that your vehicle is slammed to the ground because of the extra weight, he might ask you to remove your belongings or ask you for an additional charge. Truck drivers will not take any responsibility for damages that arise from household items inside your vehicle. If you have questions on what you load into your vehicle please give us a call on 312-224-8460 and one of our representatives will be more than happy to help you out.
Yes, but it must be noted at the time you place the order. If your vehicle is not operable, an inoperable fee of $200 will be added to the transport cost. Please make sure that you tell us ahead of time if your vehicle is inoperable so that we can assign the right driver for your vehicle.
TCI Logistics has a license given by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Our MC# is 947471 and our DOT# is 2833433.
Your vehicle is fully insured during transit by general carrier liability insurance and all carriers have cargo insurance of $250k-$1 million. Acts of God (hail, floods, hurricanes, avalanches, etc), along with road debris that can cause minor damage to windshields, paint and undercarriages (just like when you are driving down the highway) are not covered. However, if this is of great concern to you, we are able to arrange for your vehicle to be transported in an enclosed carrier for an additional fee.
If you receive your vehicle and notice that there is something on your vehicle that was not there at the time of the pickup, you must immediately mark it on the bill of lading as a new damage. The next thing you should do is call TCI Logistics to report the damage, it will be very helpful for us to be aware of this new damage right away, so that we could resolve the issues as fast as possible. Make sure that driver does not leave without you marking it on the bill of lading and the driver signing it.
We will ask you to submit both bills of lading along with three estimates from an authorized repair shop. We will facilitate the arbitration with our carrier.
You only need to pass over the keys to the driver. Your registration and insurance are not needed from the driver. You only need to sign off your vehicle that it has been picked up on the bill of lading and then your vehicle will be on the way to its drop off destination.
TCI Logistics will provide you with the name and phone number of the driver as soon as he has been assigned. The driver will contact you 24 hours prior the pickup, and again one hour before the pick up on the same day. Once you have met up with the driver, he will do an inspection on your vehicle, you sign the bill of lading, the driver loads it on and then he leaves.
The most efficient way is to give the driver a call directly, if he is busy and he is not able to answer, please give TCI Logistics a call on 312-224-8460, and we will be able to assist you as well.
It really depends, most drivers will load on the vehicle wherever they think it’s right and safe. Truckers have to deal with multiple factors when it comes down to loading on your vehicle. They have to make sure that they fit all cars properly so that they don’t exceed the permitted length of the truck, and they also need to make sure that they obey all Federal laws and that they are not overweight on any of the axels. If you think that that might be a problem, please give us a call on 312-224-8460 so that we could discuss all the options that we have.
